After buying the collection kit at an authorized retailer, you need to register your tube in a 23andMe account. Here are 5 simple steps for your kit registration.
How to register
Step 1 – Go to the main site at www.23andme.com. Click on the “Register kit” on the right corner.
Step 2 – Next, you need to create a new account by filling out some personal information, including email, name, birthday, and accepting the Terms of Service.
Step 3 – Once your information has been summited, you will receive an email to verify the account and choose your own password and security question.
Step 4 – Enter 14-digit barcode which can be found on the side of the collection tube in your kit. You can enter it either without or with the dashes.
Step 5 – Make sure to choose the right person for the sample kit, and then click on “Yes, Store this sample”, and “Summit”.
Step 6 -Once the registration has done, mail back the saliva sample to the lab and wait for 6 to 8 weeks for the results.
– If you forget to register the collection kit, your barcode will be sent to your email address on the order. However, your sample will not be examined until you have done the registration.
– You can easily see 14-digit barcode printed directly on the side of the saliva collection tube.
